Please be advised that the Waterloo Uncovered’s 2024 Support Programmes for Veterans and Serving Military Personnel (VSMP), is now open to receive applications.
Waterloo Uncovered is a groundbreaking charity that combines world-class archaeology with a programme of care and recovery for VSMP who have struggled with the physical or mental impacts of their service.
Taking part in a Waterloo Uncovered Support Programme can help to rebuild wellbeing and confidence, give participants the opportunity to learn new skills and provide a great forum to mix with people from a variety of backgrounds with shared experiences.
APPLICATIONS FOR THEIR 2024 PROGRAMMES ARE NOW OPEN!
This year they are offering three programmes to VSMP - Excavation, Finds and Battlefields Uncovered - the details of which are outlined in this Programme Prospectus and this useful video.
They are looking for potential candidates to take part in their Excavation and Battlefields Uncovered programmes and are looking for Midlands-based veteran groups or hubs with a physical space to host their Finds Programme, which last year were hosted by the Loughborough Wellbeing Centre and STEPWAY Worcester.
Excavation: Two weeks of excavation on the Waterloo Battlefield, suitable for veterans and serving personnel. Applications close on the 28th April 2024.
Finds: Six weeks of in person archaeological finds workshops hosted in existing Midlands’s veteran’s groups. Applications close on 28th April 2024.
Please note that applications are invited from host organisations, not individual veterans.
Battlefields Uncovered: Ten week online military history and conflict archaeology course suitable for veterans, serving personnel and adult military family members. Applications close on 24th June 2024.
If any veterans are suitable for their programmes, or you would like to learn more about hosting their Finds programme, please email them at apply@waterloouncovered.com and they will provide more details about the programmes and application process. Places are allocated on a first come, first served basis following their interview & selection process.
