WELCOME TO THE SCOTTISH BRANCH

Established 15 May 1950 as NE & S Scotland Branch, in 1992 renamed Scottish Branch.
Membership is at 111 (Apr 24).

The Scottish Branch is the longest established QARANC Association Branch, having held its inaugural meeting on 15 May 1950.  The Branch also has the largest geographical footprint, with members scattered across the country from the Highlands to the Borders and all points in between.

Our events are held in locations around the country in an effort to mirror the geographical spread of our members.  In this way, we hope to provide them with at least one event during the year that is within reasonable travelling distance of their home.  That said, many of our members attend most, if not all events, viewing it as an ideal opportunity to have a day or two away from home and explore somewhere new.  So far we have held events in Auchterarder, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Perth, Dundee, Inverness, Kinross, Dumfries, Cumnock, Oban, Falkirk, Castle Douglas, Haddington, Burntisland, Inverurie, Direlton, Moffat and Helensburgh.
Particularly popular are our regular Coffee Catch Ups.

These informal gatherings usually last an hour or so and are a great way for members to catch up over a cuppa, not to mention a scone or piece of cake, and have a good old blether.  As with our other events, we aim to meet up in locations across Scotland and rely on recommendations from our members when selecting venues.  Committee members strive to attend where possible as it’s a great way to gain feedback and suggestions for the Branch.

We are always delighted to welcome new members and currently, our membership sits at 111.  This comprises retired and serving members, both regular and reserve.  Four members live overseas (1 in Australia, 2 in New Zealand and 1 in Spain). In addition, we have 6 Honorary members who did not serve in the QARANC but who provide valuable support and advice based on their professional experience.
With no Unit Branch as such in Scotland, we welcome serving personnel to join us for the duration of their assignment north of the border.
